As far as hanging it up on a high note, a few years back when corn was over $5 would have probably been a better choice financially. Our corn yields suck this year. Way worse than we thought they would be. But the beans are looking great. I guess that is one of the things I will not miss is worrying about getting the crop in when it is too wet, getting a rain when the crop is burning up, or mudding it out in the fall/winter. We will have some land we will share rent and some cash rent so I suppose on the share there could still be worry. But we will not be depending on that income for our lifestyle and I figure just take a high level of crop insurance coverage and not worry about it. It will be the tenants worry. John |
