We still run riveted sections on our roadside mower. A proper rivet tool, and cordless impact actually make pretty short work of the rivets, although bolts are better.
I would agree that bolts are better but I never thought the rivets were that bad either. Usually 3 to 4 hits with a chisel sheared the top of the rivet off clean enough that the bottom part came out nicely. I used to change them on our Versatile swathers when I was young less than 10 minutes. No battery impacts in those days either, just a hand driven ratchet. |
