| I bought a used 5 shank Unverferth ripper this spring. It has the auto reset shanks. I put it on the tractor and tried it out this weekend in western IN. I had all sorts of trouble with the shanks tripping out.
It is very dry here and the ground is hard. The side wheels were set at around 13" when I started and I could barely run it down to that point without one shank in particular tripping out. One is worse than the rest, but all tripped at some point.
Is there anything that can be done to increase the force to trip? I did lower the wheels some to 11", but haven't tried that yet. I was hoping I could run a little deeper.
Any ideas anyone has used to keep these shanks from tripping so easy?
