Subject: Moving A Pool Table

So how many folks....and how much machinery does it take to move pool table?

Local cafe/bar closed, and had a well used pool table for sale. For some reason, my wife took leave of good sense, and with birthdays and our anniversary approaching thought this would make a fun acquisition for the house.

We have recenlyt moved to our "retirement" home, which had a good place for it, unfortunately, that "good place" was down in a recreation room in the basement. Basement (fortunately) has some "escape" doors.....sort of a double door, celler door type things.....you've seen such things many times. Seemed like just the place for the table to enter the basement.

First project was to remove the table from its present/former location. PLaced it on side on a rented "dolly cart" and rolled it out the door. Son came along with his skid steer bobcat, and picked it up. We strapped it to the Bobcat loader, and traveled several blocks across town to our house. 5 ratchet straps, one dolly cart, one skid steer loader and several men already required. Arrived at escape doors leading to baseent of rear of house. More men and materials involved. Table only weighed about 500 pounds, but before we were done we had involved 6 men, two wives, 8 firniture blankets, one dolly cart, one sheet of 1" plywood (covered the stair treads in the escape route) 7 ratchet straps, 100 feet of rope, assorted blocks to level things, and climb over the rock landscape containment, etc. Removed table from dolly cart and skid steer. Tied off table (on side) to relocated skidsteer, Several gents, helped stabilize table, and a couple were "catchers" down at the bottom of stairs. Skid steer slowly moved forward allowing small amounts of slack in rope, and allowing table to slowly slide down the stairway on the plywood slide. Table arrived on the basement floor intact, and the rest of the men gathered in the basement to help slide it into place, reattach the legs, and set it back up. Took about an hour and a half.

Need to do some more "leveling", but we're shooting pool tonight. lol showboat
