| Odds are your chain is near the end of its life. Assuming the rest of the spreader is good and you plan on keeping it, get a new apron and be done. Many moons ago I bought a Meyers at an auction with a bad apron. Stopped by local dealer(not a Meyers dealer) on the way home and had them order a new one. Been trouble free since.
If you don't want to do that, I'd do as others said. Just leave the slat out. Odds are the chain is stretched enough that you won't miss it. To reduce further breaking on your current apron I recommend loading a little less in the spreader, slow apron speed down if you can, and if there's twine wrapped around the beater clean it off. Its been my experience that pushing more manure against the beater than it can spread is what breaks the apron. | |
