Well, we are close to 20 years without a combine. These days it has to do with likely needing 2 combines, support equipment, and finding the labor that will put in the hours, one would also likely need to put up another shed to house such equipment. So, when you use a crew, you’re alleviating those concerns/hurdles coupled with a reasonable charge since we can store everything we produce and is very close to our fields with fast unloading. It frees us up to manage the bin site, truck, and stay on top of tillage (what a premium the last 4 years with the mudfest we’ve felt with lol). A nice part is we can get the crop out quick before anything can happen to it (Beans get dry, big rains, snow, wind, etc) since they have multiple machines. Some years it pays to use a crew, others it doesn’t. Our crew is excellent and has grown it’s business quite a bit in the area, hard to put a value on a good crew.

You wouldn’t believe how less stressful harvest time is! Haha
