Subject: RE: John Deere forage harvester feed roll questions

Missaukee Mi
I double checked the clearances on the head and they all seem to be in spec. How high do you dare go on the spring tension? Our 7200 only has the rear feed roll springs, I see in the book that some have the front as well but on the jd parts it says the fronts to do not go on ours based on serial numbers. any reason I cant just add them? I will double check the smooth roll but we had this issue even when the smooth roll and scraper were new a few years ago. I will probably try replacing the upper rear and front feed rolls this winter if people have seen an improvement of feeding with them. The rear roll looks pretty wore with the edges curled back and rounded.
We chopped yesterday after a rain and struggled more than usual with the damp corn. even starting straight with a full head it would hit the feed rolls but not suck it in.
