Subject: Maple Stocks in Shotguns

Watford City, ND
Question for gun enthusiasts on here. I’m currently looking at purchasing a Winchester Model 101 Maple. I think it’s a very pretty gun and it would be my first stacked barrel gun. I currently own an 11-87 semi auto and have my dads old Savage from the 60’s (a Woolworths purchase!).

In looking around online the reviews for the gun are great. However some people do chime in that the maple stocks are not near as good as the walnuts. They’re more brittle and crack easier.

What day you? On a gun in this price range, the quality of the wood is AAA. Is this something that would deter a guy from purchasing it?

I’ve always loved the maple colored guns. You don’t see them near as often which to me is a plus!

Thanks for any opinions and comments.
