Over thrashed and under thrashed could be an indication of the concave not being square to the cylinder.
In the john deere cylinders a guy could have blocked off the first several bars to help clean up pods.
For the splits maybe slow cylinder speed.
For pods close cylinder gap or Close bottom seive down some? 1 at a time.
Awning plates are closed?
