SE MN | I install radon systems for my "town" job for the home improvement company I work for. If you decide to use the sump basket as a suction point, I would make sure to use a rubber coupler above the basket for a place to disconnect in case you need to service the pump. There is nothing worse then having pipe in the way when you are trying to work on the pump. We normally core drill next to the basket to avoid this problem. I would also add a 4" plug to the top of the sump lid. It lets you get your arm in the basket to check the float and see inside. You then don't have to keep breaking the seal. If you go through the concrete, they recommend taking out at least 7 gallons of material. The more material, the better the suction. We typically take out 10-15 gallons.
