That is a favorite fruit to play a trick on some unsuspecting soul.

The unripe/partially ripe fruit is much more attractive than the spoiled looking mushy-soft state they must reach before they can be eaten. Once they’re orange to red in color, don’t taste until very soft!

Around here, deer get sort of silly coming out to eat the fallen persimmons for a few weeks in the fall.
