Ohio | A question about lowering the floor ? I did this several decades ago and am wondering how you are going to do it . We dug around the basement wall and poured a curb wall to hold the dirt in under the stone . The curb was lower than the new floor . We then poured a new floor within the curb . Basement entrance could be a Carey Precast entrance . They have a website and make a very nice set of steps and a nice Bilco door to go on top . This would be the quickest and nicer than you could form and pour . Unless you have a lot of experience pouring and stripping steps . What you would have to provide is a footer to set the steps on and hold them in place after they have been plumbed . At first I was going to say you would want to pour some kind of column next to the sandstone , the same dimensions of the precast . But on second thought , set the steps in place and hold them away from the house a small distance . Then form from the precast casting to the sandstone wall . This would tie the cast in nicely to the sandstone and make a very nice tight entrance . Carey Precast has a website that you can go to , to see what all they make . Made in Carey Ohio . Brought to your site and lowered into your opening . Would be your quickest and best option and look really good when done . | |
