this is just campfire wood, but I got my hands on a windfall Walnut this summer. I learned I needed to split it into much smaller pieces (say fist sized...) and keep the fire built more tightly than normal.

Once I did that, I've really enjoyed the walnut, burns pretty clean without pops and I like the smell.
