From the land of trees(maine has more than any other state)all wood will create heat when burned,it is the amount of BTU s you get and obviously if you are not concerned about the amount of times to load per day just use it,with a large furnace under load its almost constant loading with waste type wood,friend though has an Inn on an island,only trees on Islands in Maine are spruce fir type,he uses that exclusively,its near free,and his load for BTUs is medium,heck he even ran his undeground pipes with zero insulation,as wood is free or near to it.If using in a campfire situation all will work but some smoke smell of wet dog,,,
