You can drag someone into court for almost any reason, and it costs the person you sued money to defend themselves.

In my experience in the drainage world one party gets a letter from the second party’s lawyer.  The first party takes it to their lawyer who tells them to ignore it until or unless they get sued, unless there is an clear and present violation, and even then the first party’s lawyer may advise them to wait.  Usually I get called as part of the ‘preparing to sue’ process.

Lawyers use scare tactics to bully people all the time.  Why don’t you just share who is trying to scare you, because they have a lot of face to lose from being exposed if you simply shared the facts of your situation.
