| Don't know the details of course but if they would have sold any equipment and livestock and put that money in a CD a fortune could have been made in interest when CDs states paying double digit interest. A lot of people from that generation also didn't spend every dime they made so even saving some of the cash rent and living off the social security would still create a pile of cash.
A belief in savings along with high interest rates created a lot of people that had very low pay careers, but passed a way with a pile of cash which the next generation quickly squandered. | |
