 The 2 sides of the argument is definitely not black and white, but in defense of free markets I am reminded of the old Fram oil filter commercial..."you can pay be now or can pay me later". I look at  excess government paymts has having a long term detrimental impact on Ag, leading to excess production in some cases and probably more important for Ag. is the floor under COP, and it's longer term impact on global competitiveness which has been declining for years in the form of the US declining market share for Corn, Beans and Wheat.
