West Central Illinois | One of my wife and my bucket list items is to see and photograph the Aurora Borealis, so I've studied the sun for that project. The charged particles that cause the Aurora are released by sun spots and take 2 to 4 days to reach earth. But the amount of their affect is also determined by whether the sunspot is facing earth. The sun rotates once every 27 days, adding to the variables.
So we may get a couple of days warning about potential Auroras but tough to determine their strength. | |
