Pay down debt - sacrilege! The idea is to spend yourself into oblivion then complain to the local news and gov't right? haha

Actually it's an excellent idea. A biden win could mean more government control or at least that's what they say (who knows for sure) or if trump wins he probably won't be as willing to hand out money to us, oil or support ethanol (why do we "need" it would be his question). So, being low on debt means we can weather potential "reconfigurations" in our business climate. We were just about out of the gov't game (just reporting acres and some crp), but now we are right back in it. I would prefer a little (or a lot of) pain to get us back in business. As much as we complain about it, the market overall will tell us if it needs grain and probably at generally better prices if the market recognizes there are other choices for land use. The market is generally right - as crazy as electric cars can be, the market wants them so here they come.
