Subject: solar pump red oxide build up

NE Kansas
installed a solar pump to water cattle few years ago, and now starting to have problems with the pump. Company who rebuilt it said red oxide buildup caused the motor to overload. Any ideas on how to prevent the crud from building up in the pump. Pulling water out of a pond, but from a clean collection point. Pump sits 12 feet below water surface and collection chamber is 20 foot 20 inch perforated PVC culvert buried standing up. washed creek gravel around the culvert filters out sediment. Pump sits inside a second 8 inch perforated PVC casing.
