Subject: Chiapas and Yucatan

Pittsburg, Kansas

We had a lot of good travels a half lifetime ago in the Yucatan and Chiapas. Drove all over the area for about 7 years for a week or two each winter.

I would not do that today. Don't know if it is because it could be more dangerous today or if I have just gotten more cautious in my old age or some combination of both. But can't say we ever had any troubles. Drove down once (and all the way into Belieze) and flew in and rented a car after that. We were big into the ruins and visited many major and minor sites.

As long as you stayed out of the big cities exceptionally friendly people.

John
