Subject: Silage bag base

North Central IN
Last year was my first year for silage. Placed the bag on an uphill slope, on grass next to my driveway. I was thinking the water would run away and it would be easy to hop over and pick up a skid loader bucket to feed with. Was pretty decent of an idea, until the frost started going out and it started raining. Ended up with a mud mess, ruts, mud all over the driveway, and an unhappy wife.

What do you do for a base? Build up with Ag lime? Crushed limestone? Any better ideas?

Thanks for the help!
