| What is the condition of the openers (especially disc blades) and how much ballast is added to the frame? How well distributed is the residue and how fast are you driving?
Leaving the residue as tall as possible at harvest reduces the amount of material on the soil surface that the discs have to cut through.
The factors above are critical to the operation of the John Deere no-till opener in no-till conditions, but if residue on the soil surface is heavy and covered in dew - you would be better off waiting till its dry, to help it cut more consistently.
