Where I'm diabetic I did not have a problem with sugar sweet tea (my wife did), but I hardly ever drank water without squirting the squirt sweet tea (artificial sweeteners) into the water. What I drink now is lots of soda water, usually with a squirt of lemon juice just to give it some flavor. Sometimes a little salt also. Once I got totally off the artificial sweeteners is when I finally kicked the need for a sweet taste. As a diabetic I had cut out most of the direct sugar years ago (except for ice cream which was a big weakness of mine). For my desert cravings I eat plain yogurt with just a few berries, chopped nuts and shaved 85% dark chocolate. For someone who is used to a sweet taste both the soda water and the yogurt is going to sound horrible. And it would have been early on in my journey. But once I got past the sweet cravings (probably 6 months) I enjoy both now. Hard to break 60 years of bad eating habits in a few weeks or even months. But I got it done eventually. John
