The overriding reason, or what the infectious disease experts blame it on, is the close proximity of people to hogs and chickens, and in the case of the corona virus, wildlife.

Influenza has snippets of genetic material from swine, humans and poultry, and each year when flu season comes around the vaccine manufacturers try to culture what is circulating in China to try to get a handle on what is gonna spread to the rest of the world.

Except this coronavirus came from a species of bat that was not sold in any wuhan wet markets and the closet ones are 1500km from wuhan. This virus did not come from eating a bat.

couple things;
the OP’s thread was asking question about why a lot of the viral diseases seem to originate in China, so in the spirit of staying with in the confines of his question I will suggest you start another thread on the origin of the corona virus, and the various conspiracy theories that seem to be connected to it’s origin.

no matter where the bat was from, and how it delivered it’s viral load to a human, it still came from a bat, although one of the leading theories is that there is another animal intermediary involved, which makes it all the more concerning.
