Subject: RE: lost drones

You can set the behaviour on lost signal which can happen for a range of reasons, options are (default) return to launch point, hover in place and maybe land on the spot you might choose any in particular hover might be preferable if on a boat or under trees/bridge or indoors.
This usually happens so reliably that some people just shut of the controller and wait until it returns.
To be honest it sounds more like a failure with the drone, batteries are known to swell if turning bad and can unclip halfway through a flight, or maybe some external factor like a bird attack.
There are ways to analyse the data from a file captured in the app, sometimes it can give remarkably good information about what happened in the last few seconds.
