Central Kansas
Have done the same thing. Calf walked around for a week before it fell out. I also have a good horse, more ropes than I want to admit, and I know how to use them. I really enjoy using my horses and take pride in a good one. But I use a lot of darts. Hands down better and safer for cattle and me. If you can't see that you are not paying attention. Hey look that calf is struggling to breathe, let's chock him a bit, see if that helps. I still lay them down when I need to, but that's less all the time. The herd stays quiet also. Go doctor 10 out of 50 yearlings on grass both ways and tell me which is easier to ride next week.
