Subject: Liner for inside stalk chopper?

SC Wisconsin
Last year about halfway through making stalks I noticed a pinhole in the hood for my stalk chopper, right in the front basically behind the divider gearbox. Its a sukup 1800, 15 ft. I remember a neighbor had a stalk chopper a while back that had a steel liner welded on the inside when they bought it. Any ideas on what I should do to patch it or what to reline it with? I did another 100 acres after it started as a pin hole and by the time I got done you could put your fist through it. Maybe have a fabrication shop roll some steel and weld it in? Or maybe get some sheets of UHMW plastic and bolt that in? Thanks for any suggestions. The rest of the machine is solid, I think this spot was where a rock had been thrown into the hood and made a weak spot.
