Farming is a business, and pretty much every other modern business has followed something close to the path I stated. Its just what happens in a mature industry. Our business is unique but unless policy prevents it there is no stopping it. Its called capitalism. You dont think controlling world food production would have enough incentive for corps to take on? I remember when the hog guys around here were in denial. Eventually big fish eats little fish.
Edit to add: "now we have guaranteed high rents" here is where the Walmart analogy takes place, pay big rents to run everyone out of business, then with no competition left...
Having control of the majority of the inputs to an end product IS control. However this is where we are today and how they get control of the land over the next several years will be interesting. My bet is its coming, maybe 5 years, maybe 25 IDK.
