Subject: RE: fiber

From what I have learned fiber is not needed for good colon health. But if it works for you that is all that is important.

That second sentence, I think, is very important. When I was on opioids after surgery and had to suddenly quit them, I started eating a bit of oatmeal a couple of times a day. Couldn't eat much of anything, but oatmeal seemed to bother my gut the least. Anyway, long story short, after a lifetime of irregularity - and 23 years of IBS - my gut is doing the best it has been doing for a very long time. And, if plenty of walnut pieces and a bit of brown sugar are mixed in, I've actually gotten to like oatmeal. Hard to believe, but true. I never used to like oatmeal at all.

So, for anyone suffering from irregularity, I would suggest trying oatmeal in the mornings.

But, as you said, John, "if it works for you."
