NE Nebraska
Rents are too high there is no doubt. People have been getting good yields off of dryland th last 5 or so years and so they have pushed dryland rents farther than they should have. I think guys figure they could make 55 bu dryland or better but this year the rain never came. Which is more normal for Nebraska. Like I said guys have been getting lucky the last few years but this year it's catching up to them.
Crop insurance has really gotten high. I've got some irrigated corn, with p120-65%multiperil-5% deductible wind that is $78/acre!!
As far as equipment costs go. I figure $100/acre on corn and $75/acre on bean ground due to no til. If you really want to be honest about it and figure your true depreciation costs, and all equipment costs, it might not even be enough. Id sure be glad to hear a breakdown of others costs.
