Pierce county WI | Summer of 1999 a neighbor that I was very close with offered me a 30 acre piece to run. It was in hay and the landowner wanted it farmed in shares. He didn't want to deal with it. Neighbor knew I wanted to farm, so he said you do it. A year later I was planting land I owned. Bought some more, rented more. Bought my home farm (not where I grew up, but my main farm) in 04. This farm was like getting married. There's been times I've hated this farm with every stitch of my being. Then again, there's nowhere else I'm happier. Tiling and pulling fences has made it a nice farm. | |
