So I can get into more detail if you'd wish but we have gone all the way from 15" rows to 60" rows with stops in between at 20, 30, and 40. We have recently gone to 2 30" planters and we ran side by side trials for 3 years in a multitude of conditions with up to 12 varieties in a given year and no matter what the 30" averaged 3 bu/ac better than the 60". Also, ear height will be suppressed with 60" so if you struggle with ear height on some varieties like P0339 do NOT try 60s. You will be blowing up ears all the time in a poor year. Our neighbors swear by 60s but I simply have not been able to make it work economically or agronomically as you have wider area to try to keep weeds out of, they dont harvest as well either as you will lose ears through the empty rows. Even in a corn on corn situation we did just as well with 30s on 60s and 30s on 30s as we did with 60s on 60s.

What population do you plant? And have you tried 20” 2 in 2 out? Would basically be like 60” twin row I guess?
