Subject: RE: Wide vs narrow

North central TX
Worked for a seed company once upon a time doing yield research. Did side by side trials in the south (port lavaca to hillsboro in tx and in several locations across LA, MS, and TN. Across 3 years we found the 30's were better in general. One year was about 20% (it was a wetter year) better, one was 8-10%, and the other year the 38s won by a fraction. That was averaged across the system. The swing by location was pretty variable, but when we averaged to account for weather those were the results. I did almost all of the post spraying and the weed pressure was noteably less on the 30's. I hated doing those trials...it was a LOT of work. Had to move wheels on the tractor at every location, haul 2 sprayers the first year, and two heads for the combine.
