Cambridge, southwestern Nebraska | I think you are thinking right. If there is plenty of 40" equipment available I would take advantage of that. 40" rows would seem a little like 60" skip rows maybe? Also, 40" vs 30" or 20", you have fewer row units to maintain. With your low populations I don't think 20" rows would be an advantage. There is a guy near here that plants 20". Looks ok but I'm not sure there is a yield advantage. What I see with 20" equipment is a lot more expense in the equipment and not much room to work on it. |
