I would agree that spring applied manure  ,no matter what kind did not result in good things.  We had unworked stalks that were to be covered with hog manure last fall.  Ran out of fall, well had to happen this spring.  Do everything to avoid that if possible.

Would not matter whose corn you planted.  And only 1/2 inch of rain from July 5.  My expectations are not very high.  But you realize there are things out of your hands.
