Dane County WI | we have a 48' by 96' loafing/cattle shed we will be pouring concrete in this fall. we have 35 cows & usually sell the calves as feeders in the fall. cows come and go out onto pasture as they please. will have separate pens for the cows, then the steers and the rest would be used for machinery, if there is space remaining.
2 questions-
#1 what are you using for waterers? we have Ritchie's now and love them, but no close dealers near by. looking for something that will not freeze up and ease of use. we will have electric to the waterer, so would be heated. what make & models are you using? what to stay away from?
#2 I am thinking I want guard rails to make the pens out of. what are you using for posts to attach the guard rail? wood? steel bollards? rail road ties? what lasts and does not get snapped off with the cows pushing on it? there will probably be a small fence line feeder in front of each pen. these posts will be installed before the concrete is poured, so want to do it right and not have to worry about it again, at least for a number of years.
thanks for your responses. | |
