Subject: Raising a bull

Central Ohio
I have about a dozen cows and plan on keeping a bull calf from this year's group of calves. I am around the cows and calves every day and they are very calm. Just looking for tips to keep him calm and easier to handle as he gets bigger. Probably around 500 pounds now at 6 months of age and not weaned yet. Should I put him in a pen with a feeder and get him more used to us being around? Should I get him halter trained to make life easier later on? I don't want him to be a pet, but I am curious what I should do to help make this as safe as possible. I have been around cattle for years, so I don't trust any bull. Just looking for some ideas to see how others raise a bull differently than feeders.... but then again, maybe you raise them just the same as feeders and heifers. Thanks.
