Northeast Nebraska | I think you'd be fine with your estimate or to be safe err on the side of less corn bales then bump up if condition isn't what you want.
The only good way to know for sure is to test, but the only way to get a good test on that kind of feed would be to grind a bale or two and send in a sample. I would just wait until you are about to start feeding it then grind two separate piles of the corn and rye. Send in samples and feed close to what you think will work until the results come back and nutritionist can figure the ration. Like carlson said though, they are cows. Losing a little ground at the beginning wouldn't be too big of deal so stick with a safe amount of the corn until you know for sure what's in there.
