scmn | If you are going tandem dual you will end up with 10k axles. At that point you might as well run 17.5s as singles and have a lot less wheel well in the trailer. The 235/75R17.5s are rated for over 6,000lb each which vs the 235/85R16 14ply tires rated at just over 4,000 lb each. You get just as much tire with 4 single 235/75R17.5s as you do with 6 single 235/85R16s or 8 dualed 235/85R16s. The one benefit of the duals is you can limp it alone, but it always seems like the other tire seems to go prematurely if you try limping it too far.
I have researched a new 7.5x32 and have not found a mfg that will put tandem 12ks under it, they all want to due tandem 10k, or triple 8 or 10k axles all with single 17.5s. | |
