Subject: Cover crop procedure

mn
Going to try a 20 acre strip of rye. Plan to airflow it on after the corn is off and incorporate it with a 330 turbo till.

My question is when it comes to next spring. This will be soybeans. Do I terminate then plant? Terminate early and plant later? Plant in live rye and terminate later? Clear a path with row cleaners? Incorporate the cover? Or something else?

This is high OM (3-5%) soil with endless yellow clay subsoil. Also very tight soil with high PH (up to 8) in places. Keep in mind this is southern MN where we will have frost, snow, and cooler springs.

Thanks
