Subject: bile salt

Pittsburg, Kansas

Just remembered a few days ago my wife started taking bile salts when she eats a lot of fat or grease. She thinks that helps. Only takes a pill when she knows she will have a very fatty meal.

She has had her gall bladder removed so while she still gets all her bile like before, without the bladder she does not get a bolus of it when eating fats like her body would have with the bladder. We eat a high fat diet and occasionally it would cause her some diarrhea if she had too much all at once. Bile is kind of a detergent the body creates that is an emulsifier breaking the fat molecules down into smaller units making them easier to digest.

So that is one supplement that at least so far seems to help her. Only used a few pills so far though. Dr Eric Berg was the doctor that talked about it although we did not use the brand that carries his name.
