SE ND
Watching a Bale Baron tech video the mechanic described as Gearclash said. The tail length is directly related to the twine disc holder, tighter allows less twine to slip through the twine disc and shortens the tail. Different design more like a NH spring on the Baron but same idea. I will try loosening them tomorrow and see. Does poly twine have more friction then sisal so not as much twine is slipping through the disc? I wouldve thought plastic is more "slippery" but perhaps not.

Link to the video is watched, he describes my exact issues when he talks about the knot failures.
