E.C. MI
I’ve been playing with intercropping for last 3 years. I did have about 10 acres of single row 30” wheat this year- went 55bu. Twin row 30” wheat went 75bu, and my solid seeded 6” wheat(not intercropped) ran 95. Beans are noticeably better planted in the single row wheat. - those are twin row 30. The beans I plant in the twin row wheat are single 30” beans. This is the best season I’ve had for the intercropped beans. Believe or not have really struggled with lack of summer moisture here in Michigan all 3 years, but at least this season we have been getting late season rains. These beans are prolly a month from harvest . First year intercrop beans ran 16bpa, last year I only harvested about 10% of them as they wouldn’t have even covered the combining cost :( about half the beans died from lack of moisture.
