So how are you going to be able to learn and help your father if you’re stuck choring all day?

The industry is set up for who is willing to take the least return.....does that appeal to you?

Its the fact of being home. I truck west coast and have for years. Gone for a week or and do 3 rounds a month. Im just weighing my odds. I have a family to support and trucking right now does that. Bit id like to be able to get home and be around is all im getting at. Like i said. We had livestock before. Im no how and what chores are. I just wanted to hear if they can cash flow with a income from the guys that do the chores every day. I no the hog owners sugar coat it. You guys do not. Thank you.

It will prob cash flow if you dump enough of a down payment into them. 1 2400 will cost 750K+ plus the land, and other expenses. If u decide to own the hogs, you will want DEEP pockets to get started because it isnt even break even today. Manure may be a liability. There are some guys who bank on neighbor taking the manure.....there may be a day when you may have to help supplement manure hauling if you cant utilize it yourself, something to think about becuase it will be your problem, not the pig owners. A 2400 will require 150+ acres of land to utilize manure on.

Good luck, start with 1 building or try a few cattle if u have your own feed.
