Drought has no doubt shrunk the size of the crop to same extent. To what is extent is open for debate I suppose. As usual it probably isn't as bad as NAT would indicate but I still think it is smaller than USDA. My concern at this point is not for the 2020 crop but for 2021. We are getting subsoil moisture sucked down to levels not seen since 2011-2012. The 2012 drought started in 2011 for most people and even in 2010 for a few. By the time 2012 rolled around with excessive heat and drought subsoil profiles were already low and the rest is history. I'm not saying a national drought is a lock for 2021 but it is something to keep an eye on.
