That's a great idea when your sitting on a pile of cash. When your not, you better be forward selling and hedging because you know the bills that need to be paid by Jan 1


Or... you could cut back on expenses and make corn with a 2 and beans with an 8 work without all the “marketing”. Running old iron and old vehicles makes all the difference. Farmers labor is the biggest roi that gets overlooked. Before the rona farmers would drop the “my time is more valuable then that” line. Probably true when flipping burgers at Mickey D’s was paying $15+/hr and every store had help wanted signs. Right now the guys running paid for equipment were able to hold crop in the bin and can take advantage of this rally if they so choose. In my experience “marketing” is 90% luck and 10% skill but most don’t see it that way.



having paid for land makes the difference, its easy now, I just farm what i own, but when i was young and buried in debt, I had to learn risk management, forward selling seasonal rally's isn't rocket science but it works 90% of the time
