One of the wealthiest farmers around here (now retired well into his 80s) told me years ago to grow your crop first and then market it to the best of your ability. He thought that forward marketing just wore folks out because nobody knew future weather and demand. He said don't burn brain cells until you knew the math created by the exact bushels you had to sell. There was enough other things to worry about and that adding extra load on your brain just wasn't worth it. Spend that energy growing better crops or doing something else to create income.

I don't guess I've always followed his advice. But I think about it often................and mostly have.
