| 1995 crops were impacted by a freeze in September (earliest freeze on record that year at Des Moines), but with so many other problems with the crop that year (very late planting, very hot summer, Gray Leaf Spot disease) we will never know the true impact of that event.
The year that everyone forgets...and a year that I think was HEAVILY impacted by a freeze...was 1993 when it froze hard on October 1. At that time there was VERY little corn that was mature in the northwestern Corn Belt. | |
