Subject: Rotation ideas to go with wheat in a 16" rainfall dryland situation

South Central Montana
Looking for crops that I can rotate with Spring/Winter Wheat on dryland.

Currently I do one crop a year with old style mechanical fallow on the off years Just can't afford a no-till of any type and when I can they're too worn out to be a tool.

Like the idea of winter peas as a rotation crop but looking for something that can be sold as well. Can't see a green manure working economically in my situation.

Is there a market for round bales of pea hay? Does it bale well?

I've tried triticale hay as a rotation and it's fine and markets well but it's pretty similar to wheat and doesn't help my soil any.
I've done safflower but wasn't a big fan.

Other ideas or suggestions? Would need to either be combined or baled to fit with my machinery options.
